Arete - excellence. That is the name the viera had taken for herself after making the long trip from Dalmasca to Sharlayan all those years ago, though she frequently slips and introduces herself by Fjola, and thus has given up on explaining to people and simply answers to both. And indeed she navigates the social scene and the academic world with a certain ease. Beneath her scantily dressed appearance, innocently flirtatious demeanor and disarmingly nonchalant attitude is a sharp mind and a quick wit. And those traits are far more obvious to those who bothered to know her. Graduating from the Solonon with frightening speed, she concentrated on forensics and aetherology, and soon earned her professorship through her breakthroughs on devising methods that allow for a more accurate reconstruction of events through stray memory aethers. Now she teaches various general aetherology courses at the studium as well as those more closely related to her own specialty, on top of accepting work on various challenging forensic cases all over Hydaelyn. And one does not accomplish what she has done so by being a vapid, preening airhead.Despite her hectic schedule that often involves travelling all over Hydaelyn, she always seems to be able to find time for entertainment and relaxation. In fact, she seems to spend perhaps so much time on pleasure that it seems she is simply very fortunate. It’s rare to find her researching furiously in the noumenon, but a lovely night at the Last Stand with a pretty girl? She’ll be there.Whether her effortless success is due to hidden hard work, talent, or simply brought on by her smooth tongue and enticing appearance? It’s hard to say for certain.
